This section, in health care institutions provides one of the most vital services in the industry. Although not directly involved in patient care, it provides the necessary data/information to hospital staff directly responsible in patient care management. Administratively, it also provides data/ information for decision-making involving hospital management and planning.

  The general function of the Medical Records Section is to provide an organized system of measuring quality patient care, and to ensure that sufficient data is written in the correct sequence of events to justify the diagnosis, and warrant the treatment and end results.
