The Samahan ng Lusog Baga Association, Inc. (SLBAI) is a non-stock, non-profit association with office located at the LCP DOTS Center of the Lung Center of the Philippines, Quezon Avenue Extension, Quezon City. The SLBAI was registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission in 05 April 2005, with Company Registered Number CN200205278. Commonly known as Lusog Baga Club, the association is composed of former TB patients who have undergone treatment with anti-TB drugs for 6 months or more, and declared cured at the LCP DOTS Center

Objective

The objective of the Club is to make the former TB patients act as advocates or as mobilisers, educating and persuading people in the community with sign and symptoms of tuberculosis, to access quality diagnosis, complete treatment and get cured.

Roles and Responsibilities of Members

The members of the association:

  • Serve as Contact Person in organizing community outreach programs in coordination with the LCP DOTS Center Staff and the local government units in the depressed areas in Quezon City and other areas in Metro Manila.
  • Refer individuals with sign/s and symptoms of TB symptomatics to the LCP DOTS Center for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Share experiences and serve as advocates during community outreach
  • Promotes DOTS Services
  • Serve as treatment partner, if necessary, to TB cases who live near his/her house.
  • Assist the LCP-DOTS Center Staff in retrieving defaulters
  • Refer or report TB patients who experience adverse reaction/s or side effect/s from the medicines taken to the LCP DOTS Center.
Activities

The Association:
  • Participates in the community outreach programs of the LCP DOTS Center in selected areas in Quezon City
  • Conducts General Assembly for all members at least two (2) times a year or as needed
  • Plans the annual activities of the Association
  • Conducts election of officers every two (2) years
Privileges

Members of the Lusog Baga Club enjoy the following privileges:

  • Free consultation at the DOTS Center
  • Free check-up of sputum or chest x-ray if deemed necessary
  • Free consultation for any other lung ailments at the OPD Section upon the recommendation of the DOTS Physician
