The Library is the repository of knowledge available to the hospital staff and public.  Its main purpose is to provide material and services to meet the needs of all LCP staff/fellows and consultants with regards to patient care, training and research activities.

   The Library is located at the 3rd floor of the hospital building and is open Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm. 


General Policies:
  1. Library facilities are open to the following individuals:

    • In-house users such as bona fide hospital staff, fellows/residents in training, active medical consultants (in-house staff and visiting physicians)
    • Retired LCP employees can also avail of library facilities.  Policies for in-house users shall be applied.
    • Outside users such as students, trainees, hospital staff or other medical centers, employees of other government agencies and entities, private individuals.
      • Outside users are required to present a letter of request from any of the following individuals:
        • librarian
        • training officer
        • supervisor and/or head of agency
      • Outside users will be charged a corresponding fees for the use of library facilities.
  2. Borrowing of circulation books and journals:
    • Only in-house users can borrow circulation books/journals for outside use
      • A maximum of two (2) books and two (2) journals can be borrowed
      • Circulation books and journals can be borrowed for a maximum period of two (2) days
    • Outside users can borrow circulation books and journals for room use and reproduction purposes only.
  3. The following materials are for room use only:
    • Atlases
    • Handbooks
    • Dictionaries and other general reference books
    • Special collection materials
  4. Failure to return books/journals
    • Borrowers who failed to return books and journals on time shall be charged a corresponding library fine.
    • Borrowers who failed to return books and journals fro three (3) consecutive periods shall be considered as delinquent borrowers and shall be subject to suspension of library privileges.
  5. Loss of books/journals
    • Borrowers who lost books/journals shall replace the lost item with the same title
    • In case the lost item cannot be replaced with the same title, the following rules can be applied:
      • replacement with another book/journal of the latest edition
      • payment of the lost book/journal based on the present value of the latest edition
  6. Failure to settle library accounts
    • Failure to settle library account shall mean indefinite suspension of library privileges.
    • Hospital staff and trainees with outstanding library account shall not be given clearance until settlement of the accounts.
